Striker On His Way + Contenders

Keano has accepted a bid from an unnamed club for one of his strikers also without revealing who he was.

‘We have accepted an offer for one of our strikers and I will speak with him in the morning,’ said Roy.

“We will give permission for the player to speak but that doesn’t mean a deal is done or anything like that. We have to wheel and deal like everyone else and there may even be a few more offers to come.”

Kevin Lisbie appears the favourite to be on his way out, mainly down to his reluctance to move closer to the training ground like Keane ordered when he first arrived at Ipswich. The Jamaican was in and out of the first team last season and scored only six goals.

He was mysteriously missing from last nigh’t 2-0 win over Southend, not even featuring on the bench.

Pablo Counago has missed all of the pre-season games so far with a groin injury – or is it? Are Ipswich covering up a possible exit by saying he is injured?

It’s unlikely to be Jon Stead who wore the captain’s armband in the mini tour of Ireland. The former Sheffield United and Blackburn man ended as Ipswich’s top scorer last season, although it was Roy Keane who sold him at Sunderland.

Jon Walters is another that is unlikely to go this summer and has really impressed in pre-season so far.

Connor Wickham and Jordan Rhodes, the two teenage sensations. You would have thought it would take a crazy bid to take either of these away from Portman Road.
