David McGoldrick hammered in from the penalty spot to give Town their second home win in succession.

McGoldrick won the penalty ten minutes after half-time when he was brought down by Bolton keeper Andy Lonergan.

Although Bolton disputed the decision, arguing the ball was out of play, McGoldrick ensured his spot kick was not saved, as two previously have, and notched his 15th goal of the season.

It was a pretty wretched first half with Dean Gerken making a couple of good saves to keep the SuperBlues in it.

Aaron Cresswell forced a tip over save from Lonergan with a fizzing 30-yarded but otherwise chances were scarce.

Stephen Hunt ran his socks off, Frazer Richardson came off the bench to make his debut, while substitute Anthiny Wordsworth was himself subbed.

Not great, but effective and the play-off dream remains.
