Southend 1-2 Ipswich

David McGoldrick made his return from injury in our game against Southend United last night.

The striker made his first return to the pitch since last February when he came on as a substitute in the final 20 minutes of the game as he continues his recovery from knee problems and slowly steps up his fitness ahead of the coming campaign.

It was a mixed game, but Didz’s return was a definite highlight.

Trialist Balint Bajner made himself known in the game as he gave us the lead just before the hour mark, but Southend drew themselves level with 16 minutes remaining of the match.

With literally the last kick of the game, Anthony Wordsworth forced the ball in from close range and gave us the victory though.
