Sources close to Plymouth Argyle suggest that the club are preparing a bid for Ipswich striker Alan Lee.

There has been recent speculation as to whether Lee will be an Ipswich player next season after a disappointing end to the season. The Irishman scored eleven league goals and a solitary Carling Cup goal last season, compared to a total of 17 the season before.

Lee was wanted by Hull City last summer but eventually signed a new deal at Portman Road to then become the clubs highest paid player, and did start the season in fine form. He was subsequently dropped after a baron spell in front of goal but did find the net on the final day of the season, ironically against the Tigers.

Plymouth are said to be interested with a £400,000 bid likely to gain permission to talk to the frontman.
