Part Three Of Town’s Player Review

I was disappointed on two fronts this morning. First, the news that Brett Pitman might be allowed to leave. I think he is unlucky because when he plays, he looks much more likely to score than most and of course the season before, he was Town’s top marksman.

Being in and out of the side does not help his cause and we all know that he is not happy in the role of a super-sub so we may well have seen the end of him.

The second bit of disappointing news relates to goalkeeper Bartosz Bialkowski, who is rumoured to be interesting another Championship club in Wolves.

I could understand it perhaps, if he realised his ambition to play in the Premiership but come on … Wolves?
Let us hope that it is pure speculation and nothing else.

As for Kevin Bru, well it is only what I suggested might happen yesterday so no great shock in that.

So now having looked at the good and not so good, it is time to turn our attention to the downright ugly and that means, the players that surely must be on their way out of the club if they have not gone already!

JONATHAN DOUGLAS: He has never really fitted in at Portman Road and when he came here at 32, his career was already on the decline. At Brentford United he was used as an attacking midfielder but manager Mick McCarthy wanted him to bolster his defence and this has been largely what he has been assigned to do. He does wade in with the odd goal in fairness but his commitment to the cause is waywood to say the least and we won’t be seeing him next term I would hope.

GILES COKE: Injuries did not help his cause but in absolute truth he looked totally out of his depth at Ipswich and never really made an impact in any of the games he was involved in.

LEON BEST: Did not live up to his name tag sadly and although he showed signs of ability sporadically, it was far too occasional and his application did not survive any in-depth scrutiny.

PAUL DIGBY: We all know he was a real gamble and it was a gamble that sadly did not pay off. Looked nervous and unsure of himself at the back and was prone to some school boy errors at times. He may revive his career elsewhere though because he is still young and learning the game but he falls a long way short at the moment.

Not all of the Town squad get a mention in this three part series and that is because the jury is still out on players like Jonny Williams, who we may well have seen the last of.

Well, that is my analysis and I would be interested to hear yours?
