Ipswich Chief Executive Derek Bowden has revealed that a replacement for Joe Royle is unlikely to be announced this week.

Bowden and club chairman David Sheepshanks have already interviewed several candidates for the job.

Among the interviewees was Colin Calderwood, who at the time looked to be keen on a move to Portman Road.

However, since the interview, Calderwood has now signed a three year deal at Nottingham Forest.

Speaking to Ipswich World, Derek Bowden stated; ‘We are making progress and have trawled the net far and wide.’

He added; ‘It’s holiday time in the football world at the moment and one or two of our short-listed candidates are away this week.’

On when a new manager would be revealed, he said; ‘It’s perhaps likely that a decision will be made next week rather than this one. The timescale we are looking at is having someone in place by June 9th. I’m confident we will have a new manager in the next two weeks.’

The Town players will return for pre season training late June.
