Glenn Roeder has confirmed that he is considering Towns current academy chief for the corresponding role at the premiership giants.

Roeder himself exited the role to take the top job at St James’s following Graeme Souness’s departure.

Roeder said:’We have compiled a shortlist of names for the new academy manager but nobody has been interviewed or been asked to be interviewed.

‘But Bryan Klug is the type of academy manager we are looking for and he may be one of three or four on our shortlist.’

Klug is tipped to become director of football at Portman Road, if Jim Magilton is named as new Town boss next week, and the potential of this could block any move to Newcastle.
