Daryl Murphy got Ipswich Town’s pre-seaon off to a winning start with two goals at Shelbourne.
Murphy’s brace proved to be the only goals in a game pretty much dominated by the Blues who uses a different side in each half.
The Irish striker, who has signed on permanently for Town now, took advantage of a first half cock up in the Shels’ defence to put Town ahead.
Murphy then finished from the impressive Byron Lawrence in the second half but was denied a hat-trick.
Town had Scott Loach in goal in the first half and Dean Gerken in the second with he former U’s stopper making a couple of good saves in an impressive enough trial.
