Bohemians keeper Brian Murphy, who will officially become a Town player on January 1st, is not coming to Portman Road just to be a reserve.
Ipswich gaffer Roy Keane insists the Republic of Ireland international has his eyes firmly set on being the Blues’ first choice stopper – and currently only has Arran Lee-Barrett for competition with Richard Wright out for four months with a knee injury.
Keano told the club site: ‘We are not signing a kid here, he’s an experienced keeper and when I spoke to him he knew he was coming here to try and be the number one.
‘He will be with us this week and that will allow him to have a mini pre season and get to know the players and the club. He’ll be able to take part in training and practise games and get a feel for the place before he’s available in January.’
