Ipswich has maintained the stance that Roy Keane will remain as the manager at Portman Road next season, although this is not stopping continued ‘speculation’ about Tony Mowbray.

The former Ipswich defender, and briefly caretaker manager, is out of work having been sacked by Celtic last season. This has seen the 46-year-old linked with the Ipswich job with the pressure on Roy Keane growing.

A ‘source’ has told The Evening Star that Marcus Evans, the chairman and owner, met with Mowbray last weekend although there is no immediate plan to remove Keane and replace him with the former Hibs and West Brom manager but this could be something that is looked at again down the line.

Keane is under pressure to deliver a season next season or his time at Ipswich could come to an end – this is going to see the Mowbray ‘rumours’ continue…
