M&M Ready To Resist All Temptation

They are as different as chalk and cheese. One is so reserved that the thought of holding a press conference in is his company would be tantamount to exposing himself in public. The other is a doggedly determined Yorkshire man, who is as tough as old boots and as stubborn as a mule. Together however, they seem to sing from the same hymn book and are united in their belief that selling the family silver at bargain basement prices, will come back to bite them in the proverbial.

As a long standing Ipswich Town supporter, there was indeed an air of disappointment in yesterday`s proceedings. Whatever you may say about transfer deadline day, in provides us all with some enthralling entertainment and yet last night was something of an anti-climax. The sound of silence must have appealed to M&M though. Bids came and bids went but the football landscape remained largely the same at H.Q. Portman Road.

But is this is a good idea or not? I admire the sheer grit of the pair of them and especially, it must be noted, the club owner Marcus Evans, who resisted those Leicester overtures and stood firmly to his asking price. He apparently did not want Didz to leave and thankfully he didn’t but there may be some side-affects. Will David McGoldrick feel cheated of the chance of playing in the Premier and as a result become demotivated? Can he for example recapture the form of last season when he seemed to be scoring for fun but this term has struggled to step up to the plate? Most fans I think will be relieved to know that last season`s leading scorer is still at Ipswich but for how long I wonder? Conversely, could this second coming catapult us to the promised land?

As for Tyrone Mings, I don`t think he will be too despondent. He is still getting to grips with first team football so a move to Palace would seem to be a bridge too far in his fledgling career. Marcus and Mick may indeed remind us of the odd couple but their commitment to the club seems not to be in any doubt.

What do you think folks? Transfer deadline depression setting in, or time to rejoice? I would love to hear from you on all matters Ipswich Town and to get the ball rolling why not give us your views on the above topic. We all have opinions so now it is time to air them!
