Mick McCarthy Finally Rings The Changes

Some supporters have waited most of the season for this but now, at long last, manager Mick McCarthy has said he will finally succumb to the wishes of supporters and include a few fringe players when Town take on Rotherham United this weekend.

So the question is who might he include? Well, the likelihood is that he won’t risk kids and instead will go with players who have some experience but have not really had much of a look in so far.

This might include Teddy Bishop, who seems to have fallen out of favour over the last two seasons, having started like a house on fire when he first got into the team.

Obviously injuries have restricted his chances and let’s face it, he has had a lot of them but he is now fighting fit again and seems certain to get some game time against The Millers on Saturday which is encouraging.

Kieffer Moore might get a start too and another striker who McCarthy insists he wants to take a closer look at is Dominic Samuel, who is currently on loan from Reading until the season’s end. He too has been injury plagued of late but is now fit again and will surely play some part – perhaps from the start?

This change of approach by the Ipswich manager will be short lived however because he believes it would be totally unfair to the clubs either fighting for promotion or attempting to avoid relegation, if he was to turn this experiment into something more permanent in those final league encounters.

McCarthy says he`ll play a full-strength side for the games
at home to play-off chasing Sheffield Wednesday and away at relegation-threatened Nottingham Forest, in order to ‘protect the integrity’ of the Championship.

The Millers are already relegated of course so whatever the outcome, it will not seriously impact in either club but of course McCarthy will want to avoid a walloping; having gleaned six points from his last two games for the first time in this campaign.

Personally I would like to see Danny Rowe and Andre Dozzell in the mix as well and what about young England striker Ben Morris? Surely he is worth his place on the bench at the very least.
