McCarthy Talks Up Town

Mick McCarthy hailed his battling Blues and insisted we did enough to win three games.

Although Christophe Berra`s hit his first Town goal, and his first in England, Town could not get past an inspired Darren Randolph and Chris Burke equalised with a deflected shot.

But even though Town only got a point boss McCarthy was delighted with his side, which was full of changes.

“We were excellent and did enough to have won three games today,” said the Town boss after the match.

“It feels like a defeat really. They used their ‘get out of jail free card`. They got a huge slice of luck with the goal and hopefully we will get some luck like that at some stage in the season.

“It was a very good performance from us but their ‘keeper was outstanding. It wasn`t like we didn`t hit the target, he had one of those games where he saved everything.

“It was important to get something from the 90 minutes after the last couple of games – especially going into the international break but I can`t say we got what we deserved because I think anyone looking at that game would have said we deserved to win. I can be delighted with the performance though.”

It will be interesting to see if Dean Gerken keeps his place ahead of Scott Loach and if Berra keeps Elliott Hewitt out of the side.
