Mick McCarthy is looking to swipe striker Sylvan Ebanks-Blake from Wolves.

The Blues boss hopes to take advantage of his former club’s inaction over a new deal for the former Manchester United striker and move for him in January.

The 26-year-old striker`s deal expires at the end of the season when he can leave for nothing so the midlands club are looking to cash in before then.

Stale Solbakken has failed to get the best out of Ebanks-Blake who was prolific when they won promotion under Mccarthy when he twice won the Championship Golden Boot.

Ebanks-Blake, available for a bargain £1m, has netted 56 times in 172 games for Wolves, of which he has started 116, while he enjoyed his best game of the season in Saturday`s 4-1 win at Bristol City, having a hand in all four goals. But he lost his place to in-form Bjorn Sigurdarson prior to last weekend after going eight games without a goal.

He was player that Town should have nabbed when he looked to leave Plymouth but they failed to do so.
