Manager Mick McCarthy has this morning signed a new three year deal with Ipswich Town.

The extended contract will see the gaffer remain at Portman Road until the summer of 2017 and he’ll be hoping to help guide the boys closer to our hopes of promotion this season after narrowly missing out last term.

Since taking over from former manager Paul Jewell back in October 2012, Mick has certainly overseen a change around in our fortunes, and having been back on the training ground today following the summer break, he has signed and sealed the new deal.

McCarthy would’ve been out of contract summer as he only had 12 months left of his initial two year deal, but following positive discussions with owner Marcus Evans, agreement was struck to extend his spell here ahead of the coming campaign.

Assistant manager Terry Connor has also agreed a new three year deal with the club to extend his stay with us as well.
