Ipswich Town are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week’s action.

The performances by Ipswich Town in the two one victory over Burton Albion and the three one victory over Newcastle United in the weekend’s Easter double header was enough to earn them a place as manager of the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why McCarthy was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘After a run of one win, seven draws, and two defeats from their last 10 outings, any lingering relegation fears were put at ease after McCarthy guided Ipswich to two Easter triumphs. The first of those came away at struggling Burton Albion, before recording a 3-1 home win against second-placed Newcastle United – a result which sees the Tractor Boys climb to 15th.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to McCarthy for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the points.
