Manager Mick McCarthy has admitted that we didn’t really get going in the first half, but he was far more impressed with our second half showing earlier today against Colchester United.

A three nil win courtesy of a Frank Nouble brace and a solo effort from Jack Marriott, had positives and negatives for the boss.

Speaking to the Official Site following the game, the gaffer said.

‘It was a game of two halves, as it generally is! I didn’t think we really got going in the first half and we needed to organise ourselves better as a unit. They came inside at half time and sorted themselves out and we were a lot better in the second half.’

McCarthy goes on to say that the finishing from both players was ‘excellent’ and he also thought that second half especially, we really did have some ‘excellent’ performances from the players as well, picking out Ando and new signing Henshall.

Another pleasing thing for the gaffer post game is that we have come out unscathed again and haven’t picked up any knocks or injuries despite now being half way through the pre season programme – outside of Stephen Hunt’s calf problem.
