Reports over the past few days have linked Ipswich Town with moves for Burnley midfielder Dean Marney and Watford striker Nathan Ellington.

Marney, who once had a loan spell at Norwich City, scored 3 goals in 36 league appearances for Burnley this season. The 27-year-old, who has one England U21 cap to his name, only joined the Clarets from Hull City for £1 million last summer, and with two years still left on his deal, he is unlikely to come too cheap.

Meanwhile striker Ellington is reported to be the latest player to have held talks with Ipswich. The Watford frontman, who has been on loan at Preston North End since January, scored 2 goals in 18 appearances for the relegated Lilywhites. The 29-year-old is a likely target for Paul Jewell with the Town manager having previously signed Ellington for Wigan Athletic in 2002. The Bradford-born striker went on to form a hugely successful partnership in attack with Jason Roberts, who recently denied rumours claiming that he has held talks with Town this summer.

The pair are merely the latest of a considerable list of potential targets linked with Ipswich Town this summer. Also mentioned in the past few days are Bournemouth defender Jason Pearce, who was also linked earlier in the month, as well as former Blackburn Rovers striker Matt Derbyshire. The 25-year-old made 13 appearances for Birmingham City this season on loan from Greek side Olympiacos.
