It would appear managing Ipswich has become something of a posion chalice and one not many want to sup from.

Harry Redknapp,Darren Ferguson, Dougie Freedman and Terry Butcher have already rejected the opportunity to even be interviewed for the post.

Alan Shearer is not interested, despite what Michael Chopra says and dreams of while a number of decent managers are keeping a low profile.

The likes of George Burley, who recently quit a job in Cyprus after hearing Paul Jewell was about to leave Town, and Mick Mills who has a wealth of experience but little chance, have made their interest known but are not on Evans’ radar.

Peterborough boss Ferguson was quick to declare his disinterest after discreet enquiries were made about his availability.
