Make Or Break Week For Town

CMC makes a special appeal to manager Mick McCarthy get busy in the transfer window before it is too late!

This week is in many ways the most important in our season.

But it’s not because we are playing a top side – we actually aren’t playing at all until the floodlit game against Reading on Tuesday February 2nd at 7.45 pm.

And it’s not because of the weather – although Mick has said that good weather is key to the team preparations for the next matches. With Storm Jonas on its way, I’m pleased the weather isn’t the main issue!

The reason why it’s such an important week is because it’s the last week of the January transfer window and our last chance to improve our squad.

Mick stated after the embarrassing defeat to Pompey in the FA Cup that the B Team who played that night did not provide him with any selection dilemmas. In simple terms, they are not good enough to be in the first team, with the obvious exceptions of Pitman, Maitland-Niles, Hyam and Bialkowski.

This means that if we have any injuries in the final phase of the season – which we undoubtedly will, we will be putting B team players in our 1st team. And that means we will struggle even to get in the playoffs. There is quite simply no competition for places!

So it’s make or break this week and the reward couldn’t be greater with the prospect of a return to the top division at long last.

Please invest now, Marcus. It’s now or never for this season I’m afraid.

CMC.
