Boss Jim Magilton has transfer listed Gavin Williams, Billy Clarke, Gary Roberts, Dan Harding and Matt Richards as the summer clearout continues at Portman Road.

Clarke and Richards spent a lot of last season out on loan to Falkirk and Brighton respectively, although Clarke was expected to return to fight for a place in the starting line up. Roberts also had a loan spell at Crewe but returned to Portman Road because he wanted to fight for his place.

Harding was a regular feature at left back until the second half of the season and Sito made his comeback while David Wright switched across to left-back after the arrival of Danny Simpson from Manchester United.

Gavin Williams spent most of last season injured, although his performances since returning showed little of the promise and excitement he showed before his injury.

Magilton told the club website: “We will listen to enquiries for the five players. If we don’t get any interest that suits all parties then they will obviously be welcomed back for pre-season.

“I think it’s important that these guys play regular football and, if it works out that they have to move on to get that, then we won’t stand in their way.”

Williams, Harding, Clarke and Richards all have their contracts expiring at the end of next season, whilst Roberts has a further year on his.

  • Isn’t Billy Clark the young striker who has been scoring goals for fun in the reserves and out on loan? Seemed a hot prospect and in line for a few international caps???

  • yeh he showed great promise and everyone thought he would be the next big thing…been dissapointing this season.

  • Yeah looked very exciting when on loan with Colchester, wouldn’t mind seeing him with us again, not sure whether we could afford him permanently or if he would come, maybe a loan though. How much do you reckon you’ll be asking for him?

  • not much…half a million would suffice i imagine. A Loan deal would be ideal however. I still think he has got what it takes!

  • He was the one Liverpool wanted to sign for £1.5m a year or two ago in january…there was talk abotu him leaving for £5m in a summer transfer window.
Soudns justlike Bowditch…Rejected a bid of £1.5m for him.

Rhodes to be the next flop? 😉
