KISS Working For Mick’s Ipswich

The old Keep It Simple Stupid maxim is behind Ipswich’s upsurge as Mick McCarthy gives Ipswich the kiss of life.

Goalscorer Daryl Murpy, who also won the penalty and was part of the build up for DJ Campbell’s other goal, hailed his manager for going to a 4-4-2 system and using him in his favoured position – up front with a smaller man.

Murphy told the Daily Express:’Football is a simple game made complicated.

‘You don’t need to complicate things when we are playing like that.

‘It is the big man and small man up front – it works, so you stick with it. It is about standards and the gaffer has said that is the standard we have to keep.

‘We just need to win 3-0 every week now.’

Simple game football – spot on – shame the previous three managers could not get their heads round that.
