Manager Jim Magilton admits that his side were lackluster in the 2-1 defeat away to promotion-chasing Birmingham City.

Two goals in the first quarter of an hour were Ipswich’s undoing, and they never looked like recovering the goals. Magic said: ‘We were lacklustre and you can’t do that against teams of that quality. They have just come down from the Premier League and were excellent in that opening period.

‘My players want to play in the Premier League, well they will have to learn to deal with that quality every week if they do.

‘They had strength, pace and power and that is a guide to where we have to go. It’s a learning curve for my players and they need to learn from it fast.’

  • Jim’s admission that his players were lack luster is an admission that he can’t motivate them to perform!
With only half the season gone that’s a problem especially with Wolves & Birmingham pulling away at the top which could leave only one other promotion place available for the remaining 15 or so teams that will all stand a reasonable chance of making the play offs.
Come on Jim it’s your job to motivate the players to perform and that’s what the Board pay you to do.
