After being in charge for more than 20 months Paul Jewell is still relying on loanees to pull them out of the mire.
After squandering millions on over-paid veterans enjoying a cushy retirment plan at Ipswihc’s expense, jewell vowed he would bring in hungry youngsters, but with Town wallowing near the bottom of the league has turned to a short-term fix.
Bringing in Richie Wellens, DJ Campbell and Bilel Mohsni, has taken the number of loanees at Portman Road to seven.
Jewell told the clubwebsite: “Bringing in loans is not ideal, I know that but it`s the situation we find ourselves in.
“We`re not flush with millions of pounds to just go out and spend on whoever we want.
“We keep talking about this being a long term project, though I know that doesn`t wash with a lot people and I understand that.
‘We`d like to go with younger, hungry players but until we can get a foothold in this division and move forward to a stronger position, we have to go with experience.’
Teflon Jewell has been given more time to turn things round by the equally clueless owner Marcus Evans.
