Well I have to say it is a start at least. I was sort of hoping that we may get Owen Garvan again but I guess to acquire the undoubted skills of Darren Ambrose for the third time around is encouraging, even though at 30 he is no spring chicken!

He joins an exclusive group of former players, who have rejoined for a third time. Only Richard Wright, Tommy Miller, Daryl Murphy and the legendary John Wark have equalled this particular feat and one can only hope that he still has some of those creative skills that made him a firm favourite the first time around, when he was still a teenager! I will never forget that game against Sheffield United when we were losing away 3-0 before one goal from Darren Bent and two from Ambrose within the space of just four minutes leveled the scores! In the end we lost 4-3 I seem to recall but those few minutes of magic still manage to warm the soul!

Ambrose possesses something that Mick the Man does not normally go for and that is creativity! Was Mick taking a mini-break when this deal was done – or am I being overly harsh on the man? Anyway, it is better late than never and I am sure that Darren Ambrose still has the necessary skills to wade in with a goal or two as well.

In what has been a good day at the office, it was pleasing to read in the East Anglian Daily Times, that managing director Ian Milne revealed that Town turned down a club record fee for David McGoldrick and it certainly seems as if Marcus Evans is here for the long haul after all! Good too to discover that the potential deal to bring midfield dynamo Jonny Williams back is still a realistic possibility and that preliminary talks have been held with Crystal Palace with a view to this.Fingers remain crossed then.

And finally, in a day to cheer up even the most cynical Town supporter, news that young starlets Teddy Bishop and Matt Clarke have signed extended contracts which won`t expire until June 2016 and with the option of a further year apparently. It looks like it really is back to the future at Town these days and long may it continue. Now all we need is a win against Millwall to really make us sing!

Tell me what you think of the latest developments and whether you think that Town are heading in the right direction?
