The Catholic Church may have a new pope but the Minstermen have signed a winger.

Recently appointed York City manager Nigel Worthington swopped for his second signing by taking Northern Ireland international Josh Carson on a month’s loan from Ipswich Town.

The 19-year-old winger is still seen as someone with potential at portman Road after agreeing a new two-year deal and with the option of a third at Portman Road last March, but the arrival of jay Tabb on loan from reading ahs knocked him back again.

Worthington knows Carson from intenrational football and last August he represented his country for the fourth time at full international level in a 3-3 draw with Finland after originally making his debut under Worthington against the Republic of Ireland back in May 2011.
