Ipswich Transfer Window Deadline Day LIVE

It’s that time of year again folks when clubs going into panic mode and things start happening on the transfer front. But will this January transfer window deadline day (yes, I know it’s Febraury) be any different with the most high profile move so far being Fulham defender Chris Smalling’s switch to Man Utd, not exactly one to get too excited over.

Last January deadline day, you remember that Ipswich, then under Jim Magilton’s management, didn’t sign anyone. With Roy Keane, anything is possible although he has said he is happy with his squad.

Personally, I think we will sign one striker to hopefully get us goals to steer clear of the relegation zone and make a late push for the play-offs. Or is that too much to ask now? Too much to ask for probably.

Remember, any deals have to be done and dusted by 5pm.

9.00am I’m awake! So far, from what I can gather it has been a fairly quiet start to the transfer window. That may well change in the next 8 hours, but for now, I think a cup of coffee is in order…

9.21am Not only could there be players coming in today, but some could also depart as they search for first team football. Tommy Smith and Colin Healy have been loaned out to Brentford and Falkirk respectively to get games under their belt. Smith will be playing the World Cup this summer for New Zealand, so it’s very important for him to be playing regularly.

9.39am As mentioned by DrWatford, surprisingly a Watford supporter, Tamas Priskin‘s future is in doubt. Charlton are known to be interested in the Hungarian, who has just two goals to his name this season but Roy Keane has admitted that he is partly to blame for Tamas’ failure to make an impact at Ipswich so far.

QPR, the Championship’s most unsettled team, have also enquired about a loan for the 23-year-old, but Keane says he is going nowhere.

9.59am Keano admitted that he would be leaving deals to the last minute, when clubs finally realise that they want to sell and start lowering their valuations on players. He only has seven English hours to go before the transfer window slams shut.

10.30am Anyone know any good games websites?

11.00am Just six hours now before clubs can’t sign any contracted players on a permanent deal until the summer. That also goes for end of season loans, with Football League clubs able to sign players for a maximum of 93 days when the loan window reopens in a week or so’s time.

11.20am Speculation has been rife that Cardiff City’s MICHAEL CHOPRA has been subject of a bid from Ipswich, but it looks like they Town don’t want to pay his wages and get into the same sort of money troubles as the Bluebirds are currently experiencing. But wow, what a signing he would be.

11.47am Danny Webber anyone?

11.54am I’ve been assured that ‘three things will definitely happen today’ by ‘Roy Keane’s Godson‘. Alex Bruce will officially join Leicester on loan, Tamas Priskin WILL join QPR and Daryl Murphy will sign from Sunderland. And that was a promise!

11.58am If true, Keano better make it quick because he only has five hours to go.

12.13pm Bit of Championship news now and I’ve heard stories that Peterborough United manager Mark Cooper will be sacked today.

12.17pm Told you so! Peterborough have confirmed the sacking of Mark Cooper.

12.38pm Time is fast running out, who will be that striker to replace the outgoing Stern John?

1.01pm Former Blues striker Marcus Bent has joined QPR, which could be very big news for Ipswich and Sunderland, as well as Tamas Priskin. The R’s are still interested in the Hungarian, or at least they were until they signed Bent. If they no longer want to sign him, then that may well mean that Ipswich won’t pursue their interest in Sunderland striker Daryl Murphy.

1.02pm PS. Less than four hours to go.

1.06pm Going around the Championship quickly and Palace starlet Victor Moses, linked with the likes of Man Utd and Barcelona, has joined Wigan’s most glamourous football club, Wigan Athletic for £2.5 million. Geremi has left Newcastle, while West Brom have signed a Dutch bloke.

1.18pm Daryl Murphy is in talks with Ipswich, according to reports in the north east.

1.27pm Still no word on the Alex Bruce switch to Leicester

1.31pm I remember in Roy Keane’s press conference the other day, he said that he received a call late on Thursday night from another manager that ‘took his breath away’ after they apparently offered a ridiculous amount for one of his players. Roy Keane being Roy Keane didn’t expand on that.

1.54pm Tamas Priskin does look to be on his way out of Portman Road, probably to QPR, although they have already signed striker Marcus Bent today (see 1.01pm).

2.00pm Three hours left for Ipswich to sign a striker, probably not Michael Chopra, but Daryl Murphy instead.
