Towns chase for a striker could nearly be over.

Town are expected to wrap up a deal for Chester striker Jon Walters within the next 24 hours.

The 23 year old striker is believed to be on his way to Portman Road today for talks, and is expected to sign in a deal worth around £250 000, with £150 000, and the rest based on appearences and goals.

The Birkenhead born striker started his career at Blackburn, before moving on the Bolton, a series of loan, including one at Hull, saw him sign permanently for the tigers, only managing three goals.

Walters left Hull to join Wrexham in 2005, scoring 5 goals in 36 starts, and after failing to agree a new deal, joined Chester in the summer.

This year he has scored 10 goals in 30 starts, and featured in both ties between Chester and Town in Jabuary.

This week chester turned down a £100 000 offer from Scunthorpe for the striker, who is also believed to have attracted the interest of Wolves.
