Mick McCarthy has moved to solve Town’s lack of goals by offering Sylvan Ebanks-Blake a short term deal until January.

The Blues boss knows 27-year-old Ebanks-Blake from their time at Wolves together and Town have been after him for months.

The striker, who was Wolves` 15-goal top scorer last season, is recovering from a serious leg injury picked up on April 1 and has been without a club since his contract expired at the end of June.

Double Golden Boot winner Ebanks-Blake scored 61 goals in 177 League games for Wolves after McCarthy signed him from Plymouth for £1.5m in January 2008.

Town are expected to complete the deal today and so pipping ian Holloway the Crystal Palace boss for his signature.
