Paul Green ended the season on loan with Ipswich, with that season ending with him in good form.

The Republic of Ireland international was in particularly good form as the season came to an end with a two-one win over Sheffield Wednesday, with his performance heralded by Mick McCarthy.

McCarthy admitted that he will be ‘monitoring’ him this summer and asked him to ‘keep in touch’, telling the Green Un: ‘I thought Greeny was outstanding – he was by far the best player on the park.

‘I’ve just spoken to him and said ‘keep in touch’. We’re not going to sign him now, that’s not going to be the case, but he’s certainly given me a lot of food for thought in how he’s played and how he’s gone about his business. I think he’s great and I really like him.’

31-year-old Green will be leaving parent club Leeds United this summer.

This is something he accepts, but what he couldn’t quite accept as easily was his fall from grace at Leeds but he has to look to the future and he wants that future to be at Portman Road, where he thinks the future is bright.

With the right arrivals, and players staying fit, he sees Ipswich as a top six side next season. Would you agree with him and do you think he’ll be a permanent arrival this summer?
