Ipswich To Fight For Tyson?

Ipswich Town are reported to be in the hunt for Nottingham Forest striker Nathan Tyson, who is out-of-contract this summer.

Tyson, who has scored 35 league goals in 188 appearances since arriving at Forest in November 2005, is set to leave the City Ground this summer having been told by boss Billy Davies that he will not be offered a new deal. Ipswich are rumoured to be amongst a number of Championship clubs interested in the 29-year-old frontman, who can also play in midfield, though Derby County look to be very much leading the chase at present having been linked with the former Wycombe Wanderers man on a number of previous occasions.

A striker is certainly top of Paul Jewell’s shopping list in the transfer market this summer, and despite Tyson’s modest scoring rate, the Ipswich manager could well be tempted to snatch him up on a free transfer. The Blues have previously had a £2.3 million bid rejected for Doncaster Rovers striker Billy Sharp, whilst any faint hopes of signing Watford’s Danny Graham look to have been scuppered after newly-promoted QPR were understood to have made a £2.5 million bid on Thursday.
