Ipswich Swoop For Waterford Winger

Ipswich are close to signing Waterford left winger Jack Doherty, according to the Irish Independent.

The 19-year-old, Tipperary-born wide-man, has been tracked by a number of English clubs after having trials with the Blues when he was 14, and then trying out at Manchester City and Charlton before returning to Ireland.

He caught Town’s attention again while playing last season for Waterford, where he netted twice in 13 appearances.

Doherty is a promising youngster in the Damien Duff mould and could add a bit of skill and pace to the Blues attack.
