Mick McCarthy made three changes ahead of this one and decided that along with Kevin Bru and Luke Hyam, Tommy Smith would be also making way, as Tyrone Mings, David McGoldrick and Cole Skuse joined the inner circle.

Millwall looked impressive in their yellow strip in the opening minutes; playing the kind of football that was attractive on the eye.In fact they nearly took the lead when Easter hit the bar early on. It took Town a little time to get into the game and certainly it was Ian Holloway`s boys that seemed to have the brightest initial spark.

There was disappointment to see no place even on the bench for Darren Ambrose but at least Teddy Bishop stayed in the team which was not only deserved but served as some consolation for the absence of Hyam and Smith, who had to be content with a place on the bench.

Town were slowly getting into the game and Tyrone Mings was making some mazy runs down the left wing although his crossing was leaving a lot to be desired. Millwall too were certainly not out of it and were making some penetrating movements in and around the Ipswich penalty area and in one of them Woolford hit the side netting from an acute angle when perhaps he should have done better.

As Town began to find their feet Berra headed over from a corner and McGoldrick had a half chance but could not control the ball.
On the stroke of half time Ipswich took the lead. Teddy Bishop went on a great run before being tackled heavily but the referee allowed play to continue and David McGoldrick evaded Alan Dunne before firing past Forde via a slight deflection via Beevers that had the goalkeeper well beaten.

In the second half, Town were lively from the off and created a number of close calls before Daryl Murphy put the blues on the score sheet again on 63 minutes, as he scrambled the ball over the line at the second attempt.

Town continued to create chances as Ian Holloway brought on former Town favourite Ricardo Fuller but to no avail. It was a vital win then for the blues that takes Town to 14tth the table and with another home game against Brighton looming this Tuesday hope is renewed.
