Ipswich Missed Out On Signing Harte

Ian Harte is something of a nemesis for Town after being involved in a Marcus Stewart sending off years ago, scoring against us last year and now setting up two goals for Reading on Saturday.

If Roy Keane had got his way Harte would be an Ipswich player but Town would not stump up the cash Carlisle wanted.

“It was nice to come here and play.
“I was never really close to signing for Ipswich. When Roy was here I know he made an enquiry but Carlisle wanted money. Reading came in and paid that small fee so I`m here now and delighted to be with a club like Reading.”

Harte admits he has a soft spot for Portman Road, understandably so, after doing so well on his visits.

“I have memories of coming here and scoring for Reading and playing for Leeds. I scored with a free kick,” said Harte.
“It`s a fantastic stadium but they are going through a tough time right now.”
“They need to stick as a team and not as individuals and if they do that they will be fine.”
