The Daily Star have today reported that Ipswich Town, along with Championship sides Norwich, QPR and Reading, are interested in acquiring Leeds prolific striker Jermaine Beckford.

Beckford has had quite a season for Leeds this year having netted an impressive 20 goals for the Lilywhites but he looks destined to leave after the Yorkshire-outfit failed to achieve promotion through the Play-Offs.

And there don’t appear, touchwood, to be any Premiership clubs interested which could potentially give Town an edge over our supposed bidding rivals with our new financial strength – although QPR are rumoured to be interested!

  • great news…I have been waiting for this rumour to crop up for ages now! I think we could get him for £3 million.

  • Well Norwich are supposedly “leading” the race but with their lack of funds I doubt they could lodge a decent bid. Also why would beckford choose to go to Norwich over Ipswich?!?!

  • Haha why wud Beckford want to go to Ipswich..they stuggle to get 20,000 in a week..haha..fair enuff if he wants to go to a bigger club but this wud be a step down!!!

  • Do you think Beckford will care about how many people he is playing in front of? No.
A good wage and a chance of Premiership football…thats all he’ll want. We can give it to him, unlike you League 1 clubs…

  • I don’t know why Leeds fans are so proud! they are in the THIRD tier of English football, have a crooked owner and are just about to lose all their players! Leeds’ glory days are long gone I am afraid!

  • Premiership football haha..
Leeds will get to the prem b4 you tracors boys..haha
    Good luck with Becks tho..

  • well in order to gain premiership football you need back to back promotions (which won’t happen!). Whereas we just need one promotion which takes just one season. Simple enough really!

  • I like the look of this lad…..Who ever Jim gets i hope they get their scoring boots on straight away….

  • Well one of tha strikers you get aint gunna be beckford..he has publicly saidhe is happy at leeds and has two years on his contract..so wud cost you big money i wud gess..

  • Do you REALLY think he will stay with a league ONE club when he has interest from the championship and premiership? if he gets a decent offer he will be gone I am afraid!
