Ipswich Town are interested in signing Queens Park Rangers midfielder Mikele Leigertwood and VVV Venlo striker Ruud Boymans, according to various reports.

QPR’s Leigertwood, who was born in England but has been capped by the Antigua & Barbuda international team, is currently on loan with Championship rivals Reading. However, Royals boss Brian McDermott is thought to be keen on sealing a permanent deal for the 28-year-old, which is likely to scupper any hopes of a move to Town.

Dutch striker Boymans, currently contracted to relegation-threatened Eredivisie side VVV, has also been linked with Town. Reports in both England and Holland claim the 21-year-old, who is his club’s top scorer this season with 9 goals, would be interested in a move to England with several clubs thought to be interested in securing his signature. Goal-shy Ipswich are known to be looking for more firepower, though such a move would be something of a gamble.

Meanwhile reports have emerged that Roy Keane had recently failed in an attempt to bring Hull midfielder Kevin Kilbane to Portman Road. The 33-year-old, now on loan at Huddersfield, is the second January target to have evaded the Blues boss so far this month following reports that Bolton Wanderers defender Andy O’Brien was given permission to speak to Town prior to joining Leeds.
