Reports suggest that Ipswich Town are in the hunt to sign Leeds United midfielder Neil Kilkenny and Reading defender Ivar Ingimarsson, both of whom are out of contract this summer.

English-born Kilkenny, who has been capped 8 times by Australia, has netted 8 goals in 123 league appearances since joining Leeds in 2008. The 25-year-old is reportedly attracting interest from several Championship clubs, with Ipswich said to be vying with Bristol City, Burnley, Hull City and Nottingham Forest for his signature.

Also linked with Town today is veteran defender Ingimarsson, who is set to leave Reading after making 239 appearances in 8 years for the Royals. Some reports suggest that the 33-year-old, who retired from international football with Iceland in 2007, could yet prove to be the mystery player whom Ipswich have been closing in on signing this week, though Nyron Nosworthy has also been heavily linked in the past few days.

Town boss Paul Jewell has previously stated his interest in using the free transfer market this summer, so Kilkenny and Ingimarsson could well be within the manager’s sights. Nathan Tyson and David Nugent have also previously been mentioned as possible Town targets having been released by Nottingham Forest and Portsmouth respectively.
