Ipswich Finally Turn The Corner

CMC suggests in his blog that perhaps, at long last Town may have turned the corner and Tuesday night was the catalyst for a brighter future!

Our winning result on Tuesday night against Bolton – and more to the point, the manner of that victory – gives us great optimism moving forward. We won a game and we won it well!

Much of the clumsy passing, lack of shots on target and other concerns, all seemed to disappear as Town put on the kind of display we were used to last season.

In our home game against Cardiff a few days before, we managed just nine shots on goal.

Three days later we had 21 against Bolton! Now that tells a story and I believe it’s a story of restoring team confidence.

After a tricky spell there had been concern over whether we are good enough to be considered serious promotion candidates and yet our squad is stronger this season and we didn’t lose our best players.

Nine shots against Cardiff and similar stats in other matches led to the concern but stats like last Tuesday evening, show that we are indeed good enough and with belief and the amazing support of our fans we can really mount a challenge.

Our next match sounds like an easy one against bottom of the table Rotherham and a second win would be brilliant but let’s not lose sight of the bigger picture which suggests that winning home matches and drawing away fixtures is usually promotion form.

We won’t win every match between now and the end of the season and the teams at the bottom of the league are hard to play as they are fighting for their lives.

Mick has made it clear he’s aiming for three points and that would certainly give us great impetus moving up the league towards the promised land.
