Ipswich Town are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week’s action.

The performance by Adam Webster in the two one victory over Sheffield Wednesday at the weekend at Hillsborough was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Webster was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘Webster put in a stellar defensive display as Ipswich picked up three points at Sheffield Wednesday. The young centre-back made a brilliant tackle to deny Kieran Lee a tap-in with the scores level, laying the foundation for a late winner.’

Joining him in the team was manager Mick McCarthy following the performance.

‘McCarthy celebrated four years in charge of Ipswich with a fantastic 2-1 away win at Sheffield Wednesday. A dazzling solo goal from Tom Lawrence put the Tractor Boys on their way, and skipper Luke Chambers marked the anniversary with a late headed winner to earn victory.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to both for their recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the win.

Full Team:

Adam Davies (Barnley), Scott Malone (Fulham), Ciaran Clark (Newcastle United), Adam Webster (Ipswich Town), Luke Ayling (Leeds United), Aiden McGready (Preston North End), Tom Cairney (Fulham), Steve Sidwell (Brighton), Tom Ince (Derby County), Gareth McCleary (Reading), Jonathan Kodjia (Aston Villa).

Manager – Mick McCarthy (Ipswich Town).
