The first high-profile pre-season friendlies have finally been announced by Ipswich Town today – Premiership duo West Ham and West Brom were confirmed as the two ‘glamour’ sides to travel to Portman Road come pre-season.

Previous recent seasons have seen the likes of Rangers, Lazio, Atletico Madrid and Panathanaikos entertain the Portman Road crowd but this year it will be an all-English affair with newly-promoted West Brom and West Ham taking their turn to grace Portman Road this year.

Here is the full list of friendlies that have been arranged thus far:

Bury Town – Wednesday 9th July (KO 7.45pm AWAY)

Brentford – Friday 11th July (KO 7.30pm AWAY)

Gillingham – Wednesday 23rd July (KO 7.45pm AWAY)

Tiptree United – Thursday 24th July (KO 7.45pm AWAY)

West Brom – Saturday 26th July (KO 3pm TBC HOME)

Brighton – Tuesday 29th July (KO 7.45pm AWAY)

Braintree Town – Wednesday 30th July (KO 7.45pm AWAY)

West Ham – Monday 4th August (KO 7.45pm HOME)

AFC Sudbury – Tuesday 5th August (7.45pm AWAY).

  • not exactly glamourous, but I see where Magiltons coming from. 2 sides that play football…
better than getting a friendly against a big name who play hoofball isnt it!

  • Would have liked to have seen a european team but West Brom and Ham will more than suffice…the only problem is I think the pre-season friendly is a sweetner in the deal to sell Danny Haynes to West Ham!!
