Latest site poll reveals fans favour keeping Tamas Priskin and selling Jason Scotland

It’s out with the old and in with the new at Ipswich Town this summer, and as a new strikeforce takes shape, what will become of Jason Scotland and Tamas Priskin?

With Town’s front line suffering from a lack of quality in recent seasons, manager Paul Jewell has wasted no time in strengthening his attacking options with the signings of Michael Chopra and Nathan Ellington. Having subsequently cashed in on Connor Wickham last week, only Jason Scotland, Tamas Priskin and Ronan Murray remain from last season’s strikeforce. Prospect Murray was recently offered a new contract and looks set to be given time to develop, but with just one year remaining on Scotland and Priskin’s deals, it looks increasingly likely that Jewell may decide to put one or both up for sale.

So the question is, which – if either – of the two players would you be happy to see leave Ipswich this summer? Here’s what you said:

58% – Sell Scotland, keep Priskin
17% – Sell Priskin, keep Scotland
20% – Sell both of them
5% – Keep both of them

If the fans were to have their way, Priskin would be retained, but Scotland’s days at the club could be numbered. Only 5% were in favour of keeping both players while a fifth would be happy to see both leave, but a clear majority of 58% voted in favour of retaining Priskin whilst selling Scotland, compared to a mere 17% who preferred the opposite arrangement.

Scotland netted 10 goals in his first season at the club compared to just 8 Town goals in two years for Priskin, but the verdict most likely reflects how much either player may yet have to offer. Priskin is the clear favourite there at just 24, whilst many would argue that 32-year-old Scotland is already past his best. What’s more, having spent £750,000 on the Trinidadian compared to a hefty £1.7 million on Priskin, many may feel that further patience must be shown with the Hungarian if the club is to get some kind of return on his price tag.

So far, transfer rumours seem to be supporting the fans’ wishes. Priskin has yet to attract much in the way of speculation, but Scotland is known to have some potential buyers waiting in the wings. Sheffield Wednesday have confirmed reports of their interest in the striker, whilst Championship newboys Brighton & Hove Albion have also been linked.
