Holland Lined Up For Ipswich

Former Ipswich skipper Matt Holland is being lined up as part of Alan Curbishley’s managerial team being considered to take over at Portman Road.

While no formal agreement has yet been reached Vital Football understands he and chief executive Simon Clegg have spoken in some depth.

Holland was at Ipswich’s game against Sheffield Wednesday as a guest in the directors’ box and is known to be keen to help the Blues.

The former Republic of Ireland international, who capatined Ipswich to play-off success in 2000, was also Curbishley’s captain at Charlton.

Curbishley has made no secret he is ready to return to management after a five-year absence following his departure from West Ham, which cost the club in excess of £1m in compensation.

Kevin Bond was also seen at Portman Road while Ian Holloway, Owen Coyle, Mick McCarthy, Billy Davies and Gary Megson are being touted as candidates.
