Blues boss Mick McCarthy is after 30-year-old Wolves midfielder Karl Henry, according to our friends in the Midlands.

Henry figured heavily for Wolves under McCarthy and while he is keen to stay at Molinuex accepts he may be part of any clear out by new manager Kenny Jackett after being transfer-listed.

Ipswich face competition from Leicester City for the battler and it will be interesting to see if Town can get anywhere near the £1m valuation and meet his wage demands.

Henry has a lot of respect for McCarthy and his assistant Terry Connor and that could prove quite a lure.

He told SportsDirectNews sacking McCarthy led to Wolves’ successive relegations and said
‘Under Mick McCarthy, we had a clear identity. We worked hard and we were a tight group.
‘We don’t have an identity at the moment though. There is no ‘Wolves way’.

‘I know this comes over as ‘talk is cheap’ but what else can you say? I want to knuckle down in the summer and find the player I know I can be again.’

The experienced Henry would be a useful addition but perhaps the budget will prove a handicap.
