Ipswich look to get back to winning ways when they take on bottom club Peterborough.
Having been there ourselves we know how tough it can be to get off the bottom and being at home should give Mick McCarthy’s boys plenty of encouragement to secure victory and maybe, depending on results elsewhere, get out of the bottom three.
Ipswich manager Mick McCarthy told the club’s website: “We need to react to what was a very disappointing performance and result at Leicester last weekend.
“I`d have taken six points from the four games we have played since I have been here. The games we lost – at Palace and Leicester – I probably didn’t expect to come away with three points from those matches but I expected us to play much better than we did. Our fans travel a long way to watch us and I never want them to see performances like that again.
“We picked over the bones of the Leicester game on the Monday and then you have to move on. It’s all about the next game in football. I can’t do anything about the past.
“It’s obviously a huge game for both teams given our positions in the table. With the terrific support we enjoy, hopefully we can make home advantage count.”
Posh boss Darren Ferguson told the Peterborough Evening Telegraph: “Losing to teams like Blackburn isn`t going to affect our position too much, but the games against the teams around us in the table are huge.
“We`ve already lost to the likes of Bristol City and Sheffield Wednesday and those results hurt us so the importance of the game against Ipswich is smacking us all in the face.
“Like us they had a bad result last week (they lost 6-0 at Leicester), but they won their previous home match against Burnley, a team in good form at the time, so we have to mindful of that.”
Scott Loach will return in goal with Stephen Henderson, who had a horror at Leicester, dropped.
Tyrone Barnett is not allowed to play against his parent club and so will ahve to wait until Forest on Tuesday.
George Thorne will make his Posh debut after joining on loan from west Brom, while fellow new loanee Dwight Gayle will probably have to settle for a place on the bench.
Mark Little will return at full back after a hamstring problem, while skipper gabriel Zakuani will anchor the defnece after being dropped for disciplinary reasons as posh were beaten 4-1 by Blackburn.
Win one, lose one, win one so Town will be victorious 3-1
