Green – Pleased To Finish Strongly

Midfielder Paul Green has said he was delighted to play his part in helping Ipswich to finish the season strongly.

A 2-1 victory over Sheffield Wednesday thanks to goals from Tommy Smith, and then Green himself, closed out the season on a high note and for Green it was also the perfect way to end his loan spell with us.

Speaking to the Official Site following the game, the Republic of Ireland international also admitted that he’d quite like to return to Portman Road next season as he’d enjoyed his time with us.

‘It was the perfect way to end the season. We’ve sent the fans home happy with a solid three points and we can look forward to next year now. We did well and it’s nice to finish the season strongly. The gaffer has told us how proud he’s been of us this season and has challenged us to improve on that next season.’

Green goes on to say that at this point he doesn’t know what his future holds, as he will now return to parent club Leeds United, but he does say he’d quite like to stay with us because he’s enjoyed playing regularly this season and he feels he’s fitted in well with the team and performed well since joining us in February.

His time with us has seen him make six starts with a further eight appearances from the bench, and he’s scored twice for us in the league as well.
