Goals Galore At Home Once More?

Although it was another goalless draw, there were some encouraging signs on Saturday against Cardiff and the blues must believe that the goals will come sooner rather than later.

There may not be a goal-fest at Portman Road tomorrow night but much might depend on just how long it takes us to find the net?

Our strikers all need goals badly and I just hope that Mick McCarthy has the good sense to move Freddie Sears back to the position where he gets most of his goals and that is down the middle and on the shoulder of central defenders, when his pace is a real asset.

We all know how much Darly Murphy needs a goal. After a sensational 27 goal haul last time around he would do anything just to get back on the score-sheet and if we get a penalty, perhaps this is his best chance – although David McGoldrick might argue that he needs a goal almost as badly right now!

I am optimistic that the tide will turn for Town tomorrow night against a struggling Bolton Wanderers, who sit in 22nd place with just 10 points and are short of confidence.

After four consecutive draws at home and before that a defeat, we have to go back to Burnley on the 18th August to find our last win on home soil so it is absolutely imperative that we take all three points tomorrow night and start to move up the table again.

I am not going remind you all of where I think the weaknesses lie because we all know them well enough by now. Instead I will put my positive head on and look to our strengths and not our weaknesses.

We still have a great strike force and there are pleasing signs that our midfield and defence are improving too so we must start on the front foot tomorrow night and this means playing an attack-minded side with some creativity in midfield.

I hope that Tommy Oar gets a game and I would also like to see Brett Pitman in the side playing behind our two strikers, which I suspect might be Daryl Murphy and Freddie Sears.

Jonas Knudsen could come back into the defence as he is fit once more and there may be a place too in midfield for Jay Tabb?

What we need most of all is three points of course but if we were to get a few goals in the process then it would do our self-belief the world of good!
