Give The Man A Break

Now, I know that he is tough enough to fight his own battles, but I do think we should give this man a break. I am referring of course to the Town boss Paul Lambert and the cruel way in which some supporters have been calling for his head.

It was the independent supporter’s group Blue Action which started the ball rolling some months ago, and more recently the South West Branch of the supporters club joined in! And Football Insider has thrown more fat on the fire by suggesting that there is dressing room unrest within the ranks of Town’s more senior players.

As far as I am aware, owner Marcus Evans is holding firm in his belief that Lambert is the right man for the job, and only last month, backed his manager amid more calls for him to go by many frustrated Ipswich Town fans.

My own view is that pressing the panic button now – when we are only one point off Peterborough in fifth would be insane. Some of our most gifted players are on the way back, and we all know just how unpredictable this league is anyway. No club is going to run away with the title, and even Lincoln City who lead has played two games more than Ipswich Town.

If we are to get promoted, then we must work together to achieve this, and that means everyone pulling in the same direction. Former Town chairman David Sheepshanks reminded of us this when he said that promotion can only really be realised when everyone is onside. That means supporters, players and management alike.

Paul Lambert was never my preferred choice, but we have made our bed and we must lie in it. Once we open the curtains and arise to a new football dawn, we might just be surprised at what we are about to see!

it is nice to read an article with a tempered attitude. after all, Lambert has not yet had a full uninterrupted season to adopt his style of football on the the squad. At least we are seeing our own youngsters being given the opportunity to prove themselves.
if some the contributors to recent writings had been around in Bobby Robson era, Ipswich would never have reached the heights Sir Bobby achieved. His sacking of Billy Baxter, the time he took to install his style of play so successfully took time. bearing in mind the Cobbolds did not exactly break the bank on the squad. Sir Bobby would definitely not be given the time he needed by these social media ‘journalists’ to achieve what he did at Ipswich.
Then George Burley took time to get the Tractor boys back on track.
Bearing in mind the injury list ITFC has endured this season, and the effect the Covid outbreak must have had on the players it will take a while to get back up to speed. so please give this group of lad the chance to shine, it will be all the more rewarding When things do turn round – and they will if everyone pulls together, Cumonublews.
