Four Fired Up Town Forwards

I had been saying it for some time. If we had a major worry it was in attack. Now I believe, even without Billy Sharp, we have done enough to address this problem.

There was much speculation a week or so ago that Billy Sharp would be the second Leeds striker to head to Portman Road and he would have been a welcome addition.

That said, I am now of the view that we probably don’t need him after all and this is because our back-up strikers have goals in them too.

You can understand why Leeds fans went ballistic on hearing the news that another of their forwards might be coming to Ipswich – especially after the undoubted success of Noel Hunt; who has so far exceeded all expectations by a country mile!

I have always liked Billy Sharp and when Leeds United fans heard that he might be leaving Elland Road for tractor land, they infiltrated all the media football message boards insisting he stays put!

In the end, it seems they got their wish and any suggestion that he might be on his way was quickly denied by the board and their manager Neil Redfearn said that he had no intention of selling him.

At the time, like most Town supporters I was a little disappointed with the news.

We had tried and failed to get him previously and I think perhaps if we had not got Noel through the door before, we may have stood a chance?

But that is water under the bridge now and I think we have enough fire-power up front these days to see us stay among the goals.

Daryl Murphy is already on 18 for the season and David McGoldrick is due a few to bolster his disappointing season’s tally so far.

The acquisition of Freddy Sears is a master stroke and I feel sure he will not only get on the score sheet on a regular basis but has the intelligence to create goals too.

Probably the most underrated striker of them all is Noel Hunt but he too has goals in him and has already provided vital assists.

So if McGoldrick continues to under perform or injury besets our front two strikers, then our back-up pair won’t let us down of this I am sure!
