Ipswich Town goalkeeper David Stockdale has been named in Fabio Capello’s England squad, whilst former number one Marton Fulop has joined West Bromwich Albion on a free transfer.

Stockdale, who is on a season-long loan from Fulham, is included in the provisional 30-man squad for England’s friendly against the Netherlands on Wednesday. The 25-year-old, who kept a clean sheet in Town’s 3-0 opening day victory at Bristol City, has been called up twice before by Capello, most recently for a Euro 2012 qualifier in May.

The news comes as Fulop, whom Stockdale has deposed as Town’s number one, has left the club as widely expected. The Hungarian international has signed a one year deal with Premier League West Bromwich Albion after reportedly holding talks with the Baggies last week. Fulop made 38 appearances for the Blues after he was signed from Sunderland last season by previous manager Roy Keane, but the 28-year-old appears to have fallen out of favour with current boss Paul Jewell.

Fulop’s departure combined with Stockdale’s call-up means that Ipswich will be left with Arran Lee-Barrett as their only senior goalkeeper for Tuesday’s Carling Cup First Round tie against Northampton Town. 18-year-old Cody Cropper, who signed his first professional contract with the Blues in July, is therefore likely to be included on the bench.
