Ten EFL professional footballers find themselves nominated for the treasured Goal Of The Year gong for 2016.

This year sponsored by Mitre and in conjunction with Football on 5, many fans will have already seen the nomination shortlist but for those who had busy weekends (like my goodself) and missed it, players from ten Football League clubs find themselves up for the award that will be presented at the annual EFL Awards event.

The ten players and clubs are – in alphabetical order.

Adam Hammill (Barnsley) v Millwall – 29/05/16
Steve Sidwell (Brighton) v Bristol City – 05/11/16
Lee Tomlin (Bristol City) v Huddersfield – 30/04/2016
Fabio Da Silva (Cardiff) v Middlesbrough – 23/02/16
Darren Bent (Derby County) v Wolves – 05/11/16
Nathan Thomas (Hartlepool) v Grimsby – 01/10/2016
Stephen O`Donnell (Luton) v Yeovil – 13/08/2016
Ricky Holmes (Northampton) v Leyton Orient – 13/02/16
Wes Hoolahan (Norwich) v Rotherham – 15/10/16
Michael Doyle (Portsmouth) v Accrington – 08/03/16

For those fans not lucky enough to have yet seen the predetermined best strikes of the calendar year, there is a promotional video and you can judge yourself who meant it and who frankly got very lucky!

The shortlist of ten will be whittled down to a final five ahead of the EFL Awards and fans have until midnight on Tuesday March 28 to register their votes for their favourite strike of 2016 and then the winner will be unveiled at the ceremony which will take place at the London Hilton on Sunday April 9.

Fans of all clubs in the country can cast your vote for your favourite, please Click Here.

I’ve got my favourite but I’m not saying which one it is!
